Is the house clean? - bloody hell you were going clean up the leaves before we left! - forget it! - we don't have time - what time did you tell Judy to pick us up? - 20 past 12 - OK lets go! - Knock knock - Judy answers - is it 20 past 1 already? - no I said 20 past 12! - no you didn't says Judy - I will get dressed! - I'll take you says Graeme - On the train and on our way - I am sure our organisation can only improve (says he looking to the heavens)
On the train and off- this is not too bad- must be on the right set of tracks- smooth - no sign of that mud that is supposed to be squelching up from under those modern concrete sleepers - sleep awhile - wake awhile - get some coffee - write some emails - try to have the last of the incessant teleconferences that beset my working life- fall foul of Telstra - call fails - agree to delay until I am ensconced in the departure lounge.
Rush to unload the bags at Broadmeadows - walk a mile to find a Taxi to the airport-use the time in the cab to finish the teleconference - like an idiot agree to produce the minutes - ah well I should be able to draft them the plane.
Join the check-in queue - should have checked in online! - shorter queue - nice people on the Emirates counter - a pleasant first encounter with the airline - now to tackle the customs ogres - surprise - surprise - there are smiles all round - must have been some client service training held lately!
A couple of hours to spare - how about a couple of drinks - then - how about we buy our duty free now and pick it up on our way home - great idea - oh- hell - not such a great idea - we do not come back into Australia through Melbourne - settle back to piaza and wait to departure time.
I hope we smarten up our act otherwise we wake get lost somewhere between Frankfurt and the Swiss Alps .
